Supporting Tasmanian Nurses
In June 2012, the Australian Government announced its expansion of the Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship and Support Scheme to provide additional scholarships specifically for nurses and midwives in Tasmania over the next four years. This is part of the Government’s $325 million package for the Tasmanian health system.
The Tasmanian scholarships offered are for undergraduate clinical placements, postgraduate study and continuing professional development (CPD).
Administrative arrangements with the Australian College of Nursing for these scholarships were finalised on 31 July 2012 and an application round for the postgraduate and continuing professional development scholarships opened on 1 August 2012. The closing date for these applications is noon on 14 September 2012.
Tasmanian Undergraduate Clinical Placement Scholarships
At least 50 undergraduate clinical placement scholarships are available for placements in 2013 increasing to 110 in 2014.
Applications for undergraduate clinical placement scholarships will be open to all enrolled and registered nursing and midwifery students studying in Tasmania for placements being undertaken within Tasmania.
Arrangements are currently being finalised to ensure that appropriate placements can be provided in Tasmania for the undergraduate clinical placement scholarships. These arrangements are expected to be announced in October 2012.
Tasmanian Postgraduate Scholarships
At least 13 postgraduate scholarships are available for study commencing in 2013 increasing to 35 in 2014 valued at up to $30,000. These scholarships will support face-to-face courses and distance education provided by the University of Tasmania, other Australian universities and registered training organisations.
Tasmanian Continuing Professional Development Scholarships
At least 25 CPD scholarships are available in 2013 increasing to 58 in 2014. These scholarships are available to nurses or midwives providing clinical services to enable them to participate in an activity that is eligible to accrue continuing professional development hours.

I have applied and payed for this seminar, any financial help would be greatly appreciated as I am doing my graduate year and finding finances challenging, as I needed to have 3 months off work this year with a badly fractured ankle, still trying to regain some sort of financial balance.
Thank you in anticipation.
