Fixed Term Contracts Update
ANF continues to assist members on fixed term contracts
Some important things for you to consider
- If you are currently on a fixed term contract and have not yet contacted us, please do so as soon as possible so that we can review your individual situation in terms of seeking entitlements
- All members will have their individual circumstances reviewed but there may be some who do not meet the criteria eg less than 12 months of contracted hours
- We advise members not to sign any documentation in relation to their employment status until seeking advice from the ANF
Successful outcomes from the Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC)
ANF on behalf of members lodged a dispute within the Tasmanian Industrial Commission on Thursday 22 December and appeared in the Commission on Friday 23 December.
- Eight individual member cases were lodged in the Commission
- Positive outcomes were found in favour of the two members whose matter was considered
- The Commission has set a further hearing date for 11 January 2012 to finalise the remaining cases
Importantly for our members, the DHHS has requested the Commission to oversight the process to ensure no employee is disadvantaged where agreement cannot be reached between the ANF and the DHHS.
ANF is willing to continue working for acceptable outcomes for members on Fixed Term Contracts, and will refer cases to the TIC if and when needed.
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUERIES OR ARE YET TO TALK TO US REGARDING YOUR FIXED TERM EMPLOYMENT, PLEASE CONTACT THE ANF INFORMATION LINE.

Just wondering how much long the Government and DHHS can drag out making a decision on some former fixed term contract nurse’s and their applications for industrial permenacny . Seems to me wasting money on these hearings and just nit picking and trying to find any little excuse not to grant it. Not that there will be a job to go to if you win your case. Typical government drag it out as long as you can and just hope the problem goes away
