Your ANF

ANF Reps

What does an ANF Rep do?

  • Represent members at your workplace and promote the policies and activities of ANF – through meetings and disseminating information.
  • Provide a vital communication link between the ANF office and the workplace on critical and specific workplace issues, and on the field of practice or nursing generally.
  • Recruitment of new ANF members and encourage active involvement from existing members.
  • Opportunity to actively participate in EBA negotiations.
  • Provide support and assistance to other workplace Reps.
  • Referral of members to seek advice, information or assistance from ANF.
  • Empower members to get involved.

How much work is it?

  • We encourage active involvement – but know your time is valuable and acknowledge this as a voluntary role – so you decide on your level of involvement.
  • We don’t expect you to know everything – just assist members by directing their queries.
  • You can stop being a Rep or take a break from it any time you choose.

What are the benefits of being an ANF Rep?

  • Opportunities to improve nurses’ working conditions and their ability to provide quality care for patients, residents and clients.
  • Grow your professional development as a nurse through Rep training and enhancing your skills in negotiation, communication and advocacy.
  • Receive opportunities to network with other nurses and stakeholders.
  • Attend the Annual Delegates’ Conference free of charge.
  • Be seen as an advocate for nursing and the health industry.

What skills does an ANF Rep need?

  • You don’t need any experience – the ANF Team will support you all the way.
  • Receive opportunities for free ANF Rep training, which will provide you with skills to address industrial and professional issues that arise in the workplace.
